Nantyr nursery nurse dies two weeks after cancer diagnosis

HEARTFELT tributes have been paid to a nursery nurse who died a fortnight after she was diagnosed with cancer.

Mother-of-two Sarah Boef, 46, had suffered with the symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) for more than a decade.

Two weeks before her death she went to her GP with a crippling pain, and was admitted by ambulance to Wrexham Maelor Hospital.

After a series of tests doctors broke the news that Mrs Boef, of Nantyr, near Llangollen, had ovarian cancer.

From then her health worsened, and she died on Wednesday, May 1.

Her Dutch-born husband, Guido Boef, 37, said she would be sorely missed.

?Sarah was the best mother ever,? he told the Leader.

?Music was her biggest passion. She loved Led Zeppelin and Joe Bonamassa, and we went to many concerts and festivals together.

?She enjoyed driving her Honda Prelude down to Bron Yr Aur in Machynlleth, where we would have short breaks and holidays.

?She was just brilliant.?

Mrs Boef, who has daughters Daisy, 18, and Bonnie, 25, from a previous marriage, met husband Guido in 2006 when the two played online fantasy game Runescape.

They met face-to-face on New Year?s Eve in 2008 and the pair continued to travel back and forth until 2010, when Mr Boef moved to North Wales and the pair wed.

She was optimistic about her diagnosis, but then developed a number of problems, including failing kidneys. Mr Boef, a delivery driver in Rhosymedre, said: ?Doctors told us there was a chance she had five years, and she was quite positive.

?She said she was going to fight it. But then she went so quickly.?

Mrs Boef, formerly of Heol y Plas in Cefn Mawr, was due to have a knee replacement operation this year.

Her husband added: ?When she was 18 she had a bad motorcycle accident and broke her leg.

?This year finally she was going to have the knee replacement. This year was supposed to be hers.?

Mrs Boef worked at Overleigh Day Nursery in Chester and next month her colleagues will run the Race for Life at Chester Racecourse in her memory.

Proprietor Fiona Lewis said: ?Sarah was fun, loving and great with the children and the parents. She will be sorely missed.?

Mrs Boef?s funeral is tomorrow at St Giles? Church in Wrexham at 12pm, followed by a burial at Trefynant Cemetery in Acrefair.

Donations in her memory will be made to Macmillan nurses.
