It was just days ago that the PlayStation Vita came out and the Facebook app with it. No Vita users on the web reported any problems with the app, so it took everybody by surprise when the Facebook app mysteriously vanished from both the European and American PlayStation Vita stores today. What?s up?
When gaming blog Joystiq contacted Sony for a reason for the disappearance, Sony told them:
The Facebook application for PS Vita is not available at this point in time. We are currently looking into this to restore it to normal operational status. We will announce further details when ready.
Sounds like Sony found some serious bugs in the app, which is strange considering that the Vita userbase on the internet really wasn?t complaining about the Facebook app at all, with some folks even complimenting it as one of the better mobile Facebook apps.
The PlayStation Vita isn?t really a tablet in the fact that it doesn?t have a lot of third-party apps. There?s no developer SDK and the only apps for the device seem to be coming from third-parties that Sony wants to work with. That said, there are a limited number of apps on the device, including ones for Netflix, Flickr, Twitter and the aforementioned Facebook app, with Hulu being strongly rumored as coming to the Vita sometime soon.
Did any PlayStation Vita owners have any issues with the Facebook app on your quad-core gaming machine? Tell us about it in the comments section if you did.
